Myrtle Beach Bike Week

ts hard to believe the Myrtle Beach Bike Rally started 66 years ago. The newest motorcycle there was a 1940. Harleys, Indians, maybe a few British Bikes and most had a suicide shifter and clutch. The bikes were points ignition and kickstart. There weren't many dealers nor bike shops in the country so riders had to be pretty invenitive if anything broke. In 1940 a harley-Davidson WLDR won the Daytona 200. 1940 was also the first year of the FL series. The bikini hadn't been invented and the population of Myrtle Beach in 1940 was only 1597. Today Myrtle Beach Bike Week is a national event drawing over 300,000 people per year.
